Traditional american wedding for jessica darshan

August 15th & 16th, 2014 Epping & Dover, NH Jessica and Darshan’s two-day wedding celebration blended American and Sikh wedding traditions. The couple, who worked together for years before becoming engaged, has New Hampshire roots: Jessica attended the University of New Hampshire and lived in nearby Dover, while Darshan’s family lives in Epping. To honor both families, they had two wedding ceremonies: a traditional Sikh ceremony at Darshan’s family home on Friday, and a second ceremony on Saturday at the Rivermill at Dover Landing in Dover. Family from all over the world, including England, Canada, California, and Maine, attended the…

August 23rd, 2014 Rye, NH No detail went unnoticed in Jessica and Anthony’s wedding, even the date. Jessica, who admits “there wasn’t a detail I wasn’t involved in,” researched weather data and selected their wedding day based on the date which historically had the best weather on the New Hampshire Seacoast. She chose well. The weather was beautiful for their ceremony and reception, held at Rye Harbor State Park, in Rye, NH. The site was a perfect fit with their “by the sea” theme. Jessica enjoyed the do-it-yourself aspect of wedding planning, creating bud vases from Perrier bottles with her…

What do you do about wedding details that, well, you haven’t thought about? Our wedding experts answer questions you must ask before your big day. Q: What’s my real budget? A: It’s easy to have one large number in mind for your wedding budget. But it’s a different story when you start breaking that budget down, line item by line item. “People should ask themselves what kind of food they’re interested in, whether they want a DJ or a live band, how intricate do they want the table settings to be and so on,” says Kate Martin, owner of Beautiful…

July 19th, 2014 Freeport, ME Julia met Drew at the University of Rhode Island. Self-described “outdoors people,” they knew once they were engaged that they would have an outdoor wedding. Their venue, Wolfe’s Neck Farm in Freeport, ME, has a wedding field with stunning water views as well as one of Maine’s oldest post and beam barns. A campground adjacent to the farm, Recompence Shore Campground, offers oceanfront cabins that the couple as well as their wedding party stayed in the night prior to the wedding. Quilts, vintage fabrics, bunting, whimsical signage and more, all created by Julia’s mother, gave…

September 27th, 2014 Kennebunkport, ME Maine has been a constant theme in Jessie’s life. She attended summer camp there as a child, then attended Bates College in Lewiston. It was the logical choice, then, for her wedding to Mark. The wedding and reception were held at Hidden Pond Resort in Kennebunkport, which offered a number of perks for guests: biking, paddle boarding, swimming, and enjoying the beautiful seaside community. Wedding planner Audrey Zahares of Azalea Events in Kennebunkport helped the couple create an idyllic woodland setting for their ceremony. “Everything Hidden Pond and Audrey set up for the ceremony –…

August 8th, 2014 Peaks Island, ME Jennifer and Tyler share a love of family and the ocean, not surprising since they grew up in Plymouth, on Massachusetts’ south shore. Family inspired them to plan a destination wedding on Peaks Island, in Casco Bay, a short ferry ride from Portland, ME, near where Tyler’s mom grew up. “We thought it’d be a bit of a mini-adventure,” says Jennifer. It certainly was the day they first visited their venue, the Inn on Peaks Island. “It was cold, raining and there was no power on the entire island,” Jennifer says. Tyler, however, was…

June 22nd, 2014 Newmarket, NH Cindy and Gino met first as co-workers, then became a couple over shared glasses of wine. After becoming engaged, on Cindy’s birthday, they decided to have their ceremony at their home in Seacoast New Hampshire. Their property, originally part of a dairy farm, includes a beautiful stone barn. “Melanie, our wedding planner and officiant, suggested we should be outside and use our barn, which really put me at ease about doing it at our house,” says Cindy. Initially, upgrading a building used to store machinery and garden equipment, not to mention cleaning up landscaping, seemed…

November 2nd, 2013 Exeter, NH Introduced by a mutual friend while attending the University of New Hampshire, Laura and Greg Halsey started their relationship as friends. Laura gradually realized Greg might be “the one” and, one day, “it just kind of hit me,” she says. The couple’s laid-back attitude carried over to the warm fall day when they exchanged their vows. Although nervous before the ceremony, Laura relaxed when she realized “It’s easy to marry the person you really love.” During the reception, Laura and Joe, Greg’s young cousin, performed her signature dance move – the worm – to the…
