October 17th, 2015 Hopkinton, NH They say home is where the heart is, so for Laura and John, who were living and teaching in Albuquerque, NM, that meant having their wedding in New Hampshire near her hometown of Hopkinton. “Dimond Hill Farm is where my family has always bought produce.” says Laura. “I knew that was the place for us.” What was planned as the quintessential outdoor ceremony overlooking the White Mountains and fall foliage ended up something of a washout. “I think it was right after Dad lifted my veil that the hail started, followed by pouring rain, so…

May 15th, 2016 Raymond, ME   Most brides DIY some aspect of their wedding, but Whitney Anderson made her own dress for her spring nuptials to Ed Herro at Camp Wohelo in Raymond, ME. “I borrowed a sewing machine, went to Lost Angeles’ Garment District, and watched a bunch of Project Runway episodes and YouTube videos,” laughs Whitney, who had only sewed one dress before, in high school. The rustic Maine camp, where Whitney was a camper and later a counselor, was the perfect site for a DIY wedding. The couple, both screenwriters in Los Angeles, hosted multiple craft nights…

September 6th, 2015 Pemaquid, ME Stephanie and Colin wanted a small wedding on the water. Maine has special memories for Stephanie; her grandparents had a summer cottage near the historic Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. “We knew we wanted something casual that could also be a destination weddings for our families, who live in other parts of the country,” she says. Her wedding planner, Emily Hricko, helped secure The Bradley Inn, a scenic spot within walking distance of the lighthouse, where the couple held their ceremony. Details of the weekend reflected the couple’s low-key style. Guests gathered at the Inn for a…

September 10th, 2016 Raymond, ME   Kendra and Ted, lawyers from Brooklyn Heights, NY, wanted a fun destination wedding that enabled them to spend time with their guests. The couple fell in love with the idea of hosting their weekend celebration at a Maine summer camp because Kendra’s parents moved to Bethel ten years ago and Ted lived in mid-coast Maine after college. “We both had this connection to Maine, even though neither of us grew up there,” Kendra says. “We bonded over that when we first started dating.” So it wasn’t out of the question for the couple to…

June 11th, 2016 Danvers, MA Aly and Erin’s lush garden wedding was nearly a washout. Aly was Erin’s resident assistant at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire when they started dating. “I was a sophomore and he was a freshman,” she says. “It was pretty scandalous!” The couple dated for five years and then took a trip to Ireland, where Aly was convinced Erin would propose. He did- but waited until the last night they were in town. “I was thinking how could he pass up Ireland as a place to propose, then he got down on one knee while…

It was a total surprise.” York, ME, holds special memories for Jennifer. Her extended family spent summers in the seaside community and…

July 16th, 2016 York, ME Celebrating their love on a hot summer’s day was a moment made even sweeter by the fact that the bride, Jessica, was completely recovered from open-heart surgery she’d undergone a few years earlier, to remove a benign tumor from her aortic valve. “Originally we had planned on getting married in 2014, but that would have been just too much for me,” said Jessica, “so we put it off for a couple of years to allow me to fully recover.” Surgery was the farthest thing from Jessica’s mind as she married Paul at the seaside York…

August 15th, 2015 Portland, ME Margie and Matt got engaged in an Oregon vineyard on Halloween 2014. There was nothing spooky about their wedding at The Portland Company, on the waterfront. The ceremony and reception were held in separate rooms in the building. “It’s a raw industrial space,” says Margie. “We fell in love with it.” A former event planner, Margie planned the wedding herself. The venue doesn’t have furniture so she rented tables, chairs and place settings from One Stop Party Shop in Portland; she arranged a small lounge seating area, with chairs, a couch and vintage items from…
