October 26, 2023 Stratham, NH Each year, a lucky military couple is selected to be Seacoast Hitched Heroes. Wedding vendors donate their services as a thank you for the military couple’s service. This year, it was a family affair on the wedding day of Taryn and Calvin, 2023’s Hitched Heroes. The couple actually had been married 14 years when they finally were able to celebrate their vow renewals at Saltonstall Farm. The venue “fit us to a T,” says Taryn. “We have a mini farm back home (in North Carolina)—I don’t think I could have picked a better venue for…

Hence the plaid flannel pajamas for all members of the wedding party, each top embroidered with their name. We had the property all day, which includes a manor house, so there was no pressure for photos or getting ready within a set period of time,…

Emily Fregeau + Jake Carleton

September 9, 2023 North Hampton, NH Nine years of dating and two years of planning culminated in the event of their lifetime, says Emily of her and Jake’s wedding day. “I really just wanted to throw a big party, something along the lines of an elevated garden party, sort of Nantucket chic,” she says. The result was a casually elegant lawn wedding at the home of family friends, with a clear tent bedecked with twinkling lights that was large enough to seat the couple’s 200 guests and accommodate a dance floor. “I wanted the stars to shine through,” notes Emily.…

They originally met when he was singing with an all-male a-cappella group from Connecticut College that performed at the University of Vermont, where she attended and was performing with the school’s all-female a-cappella group. “We met at the after party but didn’t actually date until seven years later,” says Ethan. As for her dress, Andrea says it was something entirely different from what she originally had…

June 24, 2023 Gray, ME Almost 10 years to the day of them meeting in med school, Shalini and Kristofer were wed on a rainy June afternoon in the beautiful surroundings of Caswell Farm. “Our vendors did an amazing job of moving things to accommodate us because of the weather,” says Shalini. This included having the ceremony in their tent rather than under the property’s huge, 200-year-old catalpa tree as planned, then moving guests into the barn for cocktail hour while the tent was quickly restaged for the reception and meal. Though the weather was gray, the guests and bridal…

July 23, 2023 Wells, ME When it came time for this North Carolina-based couple to choose a destination wedding location, Kristin thought back to her younger years when her family would vacation at 100-year-old Fellows Cottage, the seaside home of family friends. It was the perfect choice of venue, with guests arriving from Chicago, Toronto, and California. “We wanted people to experience Maine and love it as much as we do,” says Kristin. “They were blown away!” The couple had been married at a courthouse in 2019, but wanted the full wedding experience. “How often do you get to gather…

Tip: Quality Is Always a Classic. Whether it’s the service you expect or the meal you share with guests on your wedding day, quality is always appreciated. Chef Jay Curcio, owner of The White Apron, says he remains dedicated to preparing classic food that is well crafted from fresh, quality ingredients. “Our clients want that standard elegance that never goes out of style. Your wedding is an indulgent event—it’s an imprinted memory for the rest of your lives—so all those ancillary details, like how the platters work on your tablescape, are very important.” Dionna Porcello of The View at Pepperrell…

Tips & Trends: Focus on the Groom and Dressed to Thrill!

Tip: Focus on the Groom. Want to keep your groomsmen from feeling short-changed when it comes to the wedding festivities? Then consider booking a groom concierge to guide the guys through some fun in the days leading up to your wedding. “Giving the groom his moment is exactly what I’d love to see more of,” says Sorrell Downing. That, she says, might include letting the groom concierge plan your bachelor party, arrange a bachelor weekend of golf or deep-sea fishing, make restaurant reservations, or any of the other myriad small and large tasks that fall to the groom. A groom…
