What started as a dating-app first date—cribbage and some brews at Maine Beer Co. in Freeport—ended up being a beautiful wedding at The Barn at Hatch Point, a unique and somewhat remote setting in Bowdoinham. “Brandon actually found the venue online, and we liked it before we even saw it,” says Megan. “The property is beautiful, and the owners were lovely to work with.” Megan says the lodging on site was a big draw for the couple, with five cabins and five “glamping” tents for the wedding party to stay in. Megan especially loved gathering her wedding décor—vases, frames, even her dessert plates—by thrifting at antique and second-hand shops. “I didn’t want to create a lot of work or waste.”
Her dress, however, was new. “Originally, I wanted a dress with sleeves for comfort, but when I tried on dresses I got too hot. So I opted for a sleeveless, silk boatneck dress with a separate lace topper. It felt really, really elegant when I put it on.” Megan let her bridesmaids choose whatever dress they wanted within a color palette of spring pastels, including yellow, pink, blue, and light apricot.
Though the day was rainy and muddy (the actual ceremony had to be moved inside), Megan says she and Brandon thoroughly embraced the day. “It was so incredible having all our family and friends there. We both felt so, so loved and supported.”
