What started as a search for an oceanfront venue turned into what Ariana and Flynn decided was the perfect (though not coastal) historic hotel—the Omni Parker House in downtown Boston. “We’re both into history, and this is the longest-operating hotel in the U.S.,” says Ariana. “Jackie O and JFK were engaged there. Once we saw it, we loved the charm of it all. We walked into the foyer and could totally envision ourselves there. In fact, we were one of the first weddings held there since they did their recent updates, including the new ballroom where we had our reception.”
Ariana’s dress was a stunning statement piece. “My style is sleek and chic,” she explains. “I tried on every dress in the book, but I got super emotional when I tried this one on. I knew immediately this was it.” She says the detached sleeves were a design element of the dress, and she loved the exposed boning with mesh inserts at the back. She wore her sister’s custom-made veil (her sister was matron of honor) as her “something borrowed,” and a blue “Pope pin” from Rome as her “something blue.” Her “something old” was her mom’s wedding dress, slightly altered, which she wore to the rehearsal, and “something new” were her designer shoes. Finally, classic white roses comprised her bridal bouquet. “Our florist aced it,” she says, noting the day was all she had hoped for and more. •
