Acadia National Park, ME
A micro-wedding in Acadia National Park was just the thing for Anna and John, from Newport, Vermont, as they planned their wedding day. “We were engaged in Bar Harbor and made annual trips to Acadia, so when we asked ourselves, ‘What’s our favorite place?’, we just felt this was it,” says Anna. “You do have to get a car permit plus a wedding permit to get married in the park, and there are restrictions on the number of guests allowed in certain areas. So doing a destination wedding and having park restrictions, we needed to keep it smaller.”
The couple made a long weekend of their wedding celebration, with guests treated to a full list of their “favorites.” “We spent a lot of time on our wedding website,” says John. Saturday was spent hanging out at the Airbnb, where everyone was staying, while Sunday started with a sunrise hike on Beehive, followed by exploring Bar Harbor. Monday’s wedding day dawned bright and clear. Following their first look at Sand Beach, the couple joined a total of 13 guests gathered at Otter Cliffs for an intimate ceremony, with John’s stepfather acting as officiant. At sunset, the newlyweds motored to the top of Cadillac Mountain for some stunning photos. “The whole day was absolutely perfect,” says John. Anna adds, “It was 100 percent relaxed. We got everything we value without the stress of a big wedding.”
