MILA by The White Apron was the perfect venue for Alexa and Michael’s “modern-chic” ceremony. Self-described as “low key,” the pair were originally going to have a small courthouse wedding until they stumbled upon the venue, which they loved because it was “minimalist, but also high quality.” They also loved how MILA does its own catering. “We’re big food people,” says Alexa, and having been to many a wedding, the pair agrees that “the thing you remember is the food, the dancing, and the drinks.”
For a dress, Alexa wanted a timeless, classic piece to match the venue’s minimalist elegance. Initially she was torn between two dresses, though she got the best of both worlds by combining a scooped-back top and a silk skirt.
Michael described the whole ceremony as a blur. “We’re both low key and don’t need the spotlight, so it’s both cool and weird to have people there celebrating you.” His favorite moment was exchanging vows, which they did off the property in downtown Exeter. “It was really important to have a private, intimate moment between the two of us.”
Heading downtown in full wedding attire, they didn’t shy from the spotlight entirely. Alexa recalls getting congratulated and honked at by passersby, a small-town scene she described as straight out of Gilmore Girls.
