With much of the guest list hailing from out of state, Alicia and Sean saw their wedding weekend as an opportunity to introduce family and friends to the Seacoast. Alicia says their ceremony at the Nonantum Resort showcased “quintessential Maine,” with the Kennebunk River providing a charming coastal backdrop. “I wanted to show where we live and why we love the area so much.”
Through her work at PEAK Event Services, Alicia has “seen it all,” but wanted her own special day to feel “clean and classic.” Alicia describes her vision for the ceremony as “timeless,” adding, “My dress wasn’t anything trendy.” She notes that she was focused on the little details, like her veil, which was made by her mother.
Above all, the couple wanted their wedding to be a “big reunion” for their friends and family. Opting out of a rehearsal dinner, they instead threw a welcome party for their 140 guests, most of whom were hosted at the resort. “It was kind of like two weddings in a row,” Alicia says. “I love that our guests could stay there and be part of the whole weekend.”
In true Maine fashion, moody weather added to the weekend’s charm. Though it was forecast to rain during the ceremony, it stayed dry. “It had this perfectly overcast, cloudy vibe that ended up being really nice.” The guests weren’t able to beat the rain entirely, however. The welcome party, set under a tent, was “a flood, but everyone had the best time.”
