Christina and Matt’s true Seacoast wedding at Rye Beach “was all about sharing our love for Portsmouth and the Seacoast area,” says Christina. The couple also loved their hashtag, a play on their last names—#faytakesthehelm—which was their wedding website as well. “We put a
lot of time into coming up with our (out-of-town guest) recommendations on our website!” she adds. The bride says she looked “at probably every venue in New England,” and then ended up choosing Abenaqui Country Club, practically next door to where her parents live. Speaking of her outdoor summer wedding, she says, “I was going for a bright, joyful feel.”
Christina’s dress was a unique two-piece look that she says she never would have considered on her own. “The stylist (at Madeleine’s Daughter) brought out these two pieces together. I absolutely loved the top with the corset back, sort of my romantic-novel fantasy. That’s what sold it for me. And the skirt had just the right amount of fullness.” Her simple veil was a nod to the traditional, she says.
The moment Christina most cherishes was when she and Matt read their wedding vows to each other. “We wrote our own vows and read them out loud in front of everyone, which was kind of scary, but it felt like a special way to include all our guests and let them know more about us as a couple. So many people came up afterward and said how meaningful that was,” she adds.
