Tips & Trends: Make it Perfectly Clear and It’s all about the Details

Tip: Make it Perfectly Clear. In the midst of a beautiful setting, nothing brings the outdoors inside—while still providing protection from the elements—like a completely clear reception tent. According to Kristen Rollins of PEAK Event Services, clear reception tents allow you to weave nature into the whole wedding experience, “something we’re seeing more and more couples gravitate toward,” she says. “They allow you to build your dream venue from the ground up. And they create a sleek, upscale look, especially the black-framed ones. However, note that clear-topped tents can be like saunas. I would not suggest using one in July or August.” Cost is another consideration. “It’s completely dependent on the scope of the build, where it’s going up, and the size of the tent.”

Trend: It’s all about the Details. When it comes to making your wedding dress a one-of-a-kind standout, Elizabeth Dirom, owner of Madeleine’s Daughter Bridal, says it’s all about the details. The new trends range from corsetry and exposed bodice boning to huge bows, voluminous overskirts, embellished veils (think large appliquéd flowers and colored embroidery), sparkle gowns, and short/mini white dresses. Add a pair of sheer embellished gloves, and you have a stunning look. Lisa Greene of Beach Plum Flower Shop says many brides are choosing multiple wedding dresses. “I did one wedding where the bride had three dresses—a sort of Jackie Kennedy look for the ceremony, another long gown for dinner and dancing, and then a short, beaded skort for late-night dancing after the aunties and nana had left for the evening.
