Tip: Think Outside the Box. Creatively presented hors d’oeuvres and unique food stations are a fun way to wow your guests during cocktail hour and beyond. According to Liz Curcio, who owns the catering company The White Apron with her chef husband Jay, their clients are going BIG with everything. “We’re seeing more food, more drinks, and longer parties,” she says. For The White Apron, a popular starter is tiny tacos served with margaritas in mini tequila bottles. Guests also love sushi stations, raw bars, charcuterie grazing boards, and the latest trend, butter boards with a variety of toppings and served with crusty breads.

Trend: Bring on the Band! As wedding celebrations become bigger and more extravagant post-Covid, it seems wedding bands are making a comeback as well. A live band definitely changes the energy in the room, according to Chris Keeley of Chris Keeley Photography. “A live band is an interactive experience between your guests and the talent,” he says. “In the past year, I’ve seen the saxophone player deliver a jaw-dropping solo from the center of the dance floor and I’ve watched the band lead the party from cocktail hour to the reception room like they do in New Orleans!” Adds Christina Padavano, owner of Pinch Me Planning, “With recorded music, people know what to expect out of a song. With live music, nuances in the performance and creative touches keep the energy going.”
