Emily Laird + Scott Dresser

June 22, 2019

York, Maine

Emily and Scott were both living in Boston when they met on Match.com. They started dating in January of 2017 and one year later they were engaged with a June 2019 wedding date. Emily knew she definitely wanted to get married in Maine. Her parents had bought a house in Kittery Point a few years ago after summering in a rented house for many years. That house was Emily’s first choice. “I didn’t want to get my hopes up too high,” says Emily, “before I even knew if it was even doable.”

Doable it was—with lots of help. “It would have been nearly impossible without a planner,” she says. “We had to bring everything in to make it happen. If I had done it without a planner, I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy myself.” Two tents, bathrooms, chairs, lighting, the list was long.

They enjoyed a few days at the Cliff House before and after the big day then squeezed in a honeymoon to Italy later that summer before Scott entered graduate school in Portland in the fall. And once again online dating creates the perfect match. Dot com.
