Southport, Maine
It was an international affair that brought Hilary and Andy together for their Seacoast wedding. “We met in London, then lived in Hong Kong for 3 ½ years, and then moved to New York,” says Hilary. “Since I’m originally from New Hampshire and he’s from Massachusetts, having our wedding in New England was like a homecoming for us.”
Hilary estimates that more than a third of their 130 wedding guests were from London and Hong Kong. “We loved that it was like having a destination wedding, but in our own hometown. We wanted a venue where all our guests could stay on site or at nearby inns, and Newagen was perfect for that,” she says. For early arrivals, there was a Thursday night bonfire with s’mores. On Friday night, the couple hosted a lobster bake on Cabbage Island, a short boat ride off
the Maine coast.
For Hilary, the most poignant moment of the ceremony was when Andy’s sister read out loud a letter from their grandmother, who could not attend the wedding. “It offered us her advice, coming from a successful and long-lasting marriage. It was very touching,” says Hilary.
The wedding was followed by an after-party in Newagen’s game room, where light snacks, drinks, a photo booth, and foosball kept partiers going until the wee hours. And Sunday morning, a farewell breakfast sent guests off in style.
