“Nolan and I met in high school back in 2001. We can only describe the next 15 years as an endless game of cat and mouse-each of us taking a turn at playing one or the other. Finally in 2014, I was home from California visiting family for Christmas and saw Nolan,” Kara recalls. “After that moment, we both realized we had never given up on each other… Not long after that, I moved back to Maine and the rest is history.”
Kara and Nolan opted to schedule their big day outside of what is traditionally considered “wedding season” here in New England. They chose to be married in late November, less than a month from the holiday season. Their wedding had many elements of a seacoast wedding, with a healthy dose of holiday cheer to boot.
“We both have always loved Christmas time,” says Kara. “Things really came together when we were offered the opportunity of having our wedding during the Festival of Fostering Trees in York Harbor, ME… we were able to help raise money for the event’s charity. It was perfect.”
The stationery was given a red, green, and white color palette, adding to the Christmas spirit. Additionally, Kara’s bouquet showcased a beautiful array of those same colors, which matched many other decorations-including the Christmas trees adorned with ornaments!
Adding a seacoast flair to the occasion, both the ceremony and reception were held and catered by Foster’s Downeast Clambake – who was also the host of this year’s Festival of Fostering Trees.
