Puppy Love

Bride with her well-trained dog

It is said that dogs are man’s best friend. So why not include your pup in your wedding day? Whether they are part of the festivities (ring bearers or even flower girls) or a guest in the audience, take these suggestions into consideration.

What’s your dog’s personality? Is he comfortable in big crowds? Is he a barker? Consider hiring a pet-sitter during the service so that you don’t have to worry. If kids are coming to your wedding, ask them to be in charge of watching your dog!

An important but easily forgotten task: check to make sure that pets are allowed at the facility where your wedding will be held. Talk to management ahead of time to avoid chaos on your big day.

Do you plan on dressing up your pup? Keep it simple. If your dog is uncomfortable in his outfit, he will unabashedly let it be known. A garland of flowers around his neck, a silky ribbon, a sleek (but breathable) tux can make the perfect adornment for your pooch – just remember comfort is key!

If your dog is going to be in attendance, inform your photographer! This will prepare them for spontaneous photoshoots capturing tail-wagging and slobbery kisses.

Maybe your pooch isn’t coming to your wedding. Just because he won’t be there doesn’t mean that he can’t be a part of the celebrations! Dedicate your party favors to your dog by giving dog treats! It’s the perfect way to show love not only to your pup but to other dog-owning guests. Or consider having your engagement pictures taken with your dog. It’s the perfect way to showcase how much your pup means to you.

Your wedding festivities do not have to forgo your cuddly companion. Let your dog help in showering you with love on your big day.
