Raymond, ME
Kendra and Ted, lawyers from Brooklyn Heights, NY, wanted a fun destination wedding that enabled them to spend time with their guests. The couple fell in love with the idea of hosting their weekend celebration at a Maine summer camp because Kendra’s parents moved to Bethel ten years ago and Ted lived in mid-coast Maine after college. “We both had this connection to Maine, even though neither of us grew up there,” Kendra says. “We bonded over that when we first started dating.”
So it wasn’t out of the question for the couple to choose Kingsley Pines Camp in Raymond, ME, as the venue for their September wedding. “All of our guests were going to have to travel no matter where we got married since we’re all so spread out,” Kendra says. “We didn’t want to just have one evening in which we would rush to spend a few minutes with all of our guests. We wanted it to be a fun weekend-long party.”
The self-described “woodsy” couple kept their 120 guests entertained all weekend with a variety of camp-style activities made up by the groom including dizzy bat paintball, putting green wheelbarrow races, and water balloon launching (use your imagination). “We had the right crowd for it. Everyone was super embracing,” Kendra says. “We’re so grateful we got that time to bond with all of our friends and family.”
