Clark surprised Jennifer with a Christmas day proposal in 2014. The couple, who’d known each other for five years, were at Jennifer’s home when he presented her with a gift bag full of bows. Inside the card Clark handed Jennifer were the words “Marry Me.” “I didn’t think he was serious,” Jennifer says. “Then I reached into the bottom of the bag and pulled out a box with the ring in it. It was a total surprise.”
York, ME, holds special memories for Jennifer. Her extended family spent summers in the seaside community and her favorite landmark is the Nubble Lighthouse. The ViewPoint Hotel, overlooking the ocean as well as the lighthouse, was a perfect choice for the couple’s destination wedding and enabled Jennifer and Clark to spend extended time with their families.
The couple’s outdoor wedding ceremony, set off by a spectacular ocean view, was especially important to Jennifer. “We’re both older and had never been married,” she says. “Our priorities are different and our attitude was that our ceremony trumps everything.” Erika Hewitt, their Unitarian minister, helped craft an intimate ceremony that reflected the couple’s values and upbeat attitude. “Guests loved it,” says Jennifer. “The whole day was fantastic.”
