Annie Dunn & Josh Monk

July 4th, 2015
Boothbay Harbor, ME

From the start, Annie and Josh knew they wanted a destination wedding. With strong family ties in Maine, it wasn’t long before they found the perfect location along the coast for their subtly nautical nuptials. But one day wouldn’t do, so the couple chose the long July 4th weekend, which gave them the ideal scenario to spend extra time with their family and friends.

A lobster bake rehearsal dinner, marine-themed gifts for the wedding party and a serendipitous trip on a fishing boat all added to the seaside motif, as did understated compass graphics on the invitations and wedding programs. The Fourth of July could also be felt in details such as the groom’s American flag socks and a German chocolate and lemon cake with raspberry filling that resembled fireworks when cut.

As soon as Annie and Josh got engaged, they knew they wanted Josh’s dad’s band to perform at their reception. What they didn’t know is that he would write and perform an original song just for them.

Everything came together for the easy, outdoorsy vibe the couple had planned for their wedding.

“I loved every minute of it,” Annie said. “It was just the best day.”
