Emily Woodworth & Marty Rowley

bride and groom with pink and red bouquet

August 1st, 2015
South Berwick, ME

Emily and Marty connected the first time they met. She saw him next in yoga class and they made eye contact. Then Marty reached out to her through OKCupid.com. “He sent me a message saying, ‘I think you’re in my yoga class’,” Emily says. Before you could say “namaste,” the couple was dating. They got engaged in May 2014.

A graphic designer, Emily designs wedding invitations and custom publications for the wedding industry. She envisioned being married in a beautiful garden or meadow. When the couple saw historic Hamilton House in South Berwick, ME, they knew they’d found their wedding site.

The ceremony was on the lawn, overlooking the river. Emily wanted guests to feel like they were at a summer picnic so blankets and pillows were available for them to sit on and lawn games like bocci ball and bean bag toss were played during cocktail hour. “People tell you your wedding day will be the best day,” Emily says. “It was.”
