Love Affair, a premier planning suite, based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire is a collection of local vendors, providing their services for Seacoast events and weddings. On November 5th, Love Affair, along with a group of their incredible vendors donated a free wedding to a deserving, local, military couple.
On August 3rd, a panel of vendors chose Whitney and Dan to be the lucky couple to win this amazing wedding giveaway. Dan made the process simple for the panel, writing in his application: He met Whitney while stationed in Virginia. He knew as soon as he met her, he wanted to make sure he made her the happiest girl for the rest of her life. Everyday he dreams about the day he gets to watch her walk down the aisle. But in order to provide her with the wedding she deserves, they would need to take a few years to save up, but he doesn’t want to wait that long to call her his wife. They are now stationed in the Seacoast region. Dan has been in the Navy for 7 years. He completed two tours in the Middle East in 2011 & 2012. In 2013, he worked as part of an anti-terrorism unit. Dan is now working as a Navy Recruiter in the New England district.
Love Affair wanted to acknowledge all of the hard work and bravery that our troops provide. We understand that our soldiers make many sacrifices in their lives and having their dream wedding could be a huge one. So, every aspect of Dan & Whitney’s wedding day was donated- from the Dress, Photography, videography, flowers, and much more!
On November 5th, and big day finally came, after months of planning with 20 vendors who donated their time and services. The intimate ceremony was held in the beautiful South Church in Downtown Portsmouth. The Bride and Groom wrote their own vows. Dan saying ‘I promise to love you from this day forward, through the inches and feet of snow and through the ups and downs that we face in life together. I vow to always respect you, and treat you as the one and only love of my life.’ And Whitney following with ‘I can’t predict what our future holds but as long as you’re by my side, I know we’ll be just fine. Here’s to life with my best friend… As Mr. & Mrs. Mechling.’ Following the ceremony, and series of group photographs were in front of the stone façade of the historic church, with the reception then held at Love Affair, a short walk away.
Whitney and Dan chose the colors of their wedding day to be plum and silver, and the reception décor matched this within the contemporary style building of Love Affair. Up-lighting, a stunning chandelier, personal photographs and messages accompanied the Bride and Groom’s personalized cocktails and delicious catering to create a memorable night for all who attended.
At the end of the night, the vendors had the opportunity to give a big Thank You to Dan for all he has sacrificed to keep up safe, and allow us to do our job- throw amazing parties for deserving couples, like Dan and Whitney. The night could not have been a bigger success from all individuals involved.
