Ashleigh Tucker & Evan Pollock

September 19th, 2015

Ashleigh and Evan kept one thought in mind as they planned their wedding: this is about us, and we’re going to do what we want to do. They stayed true to themselves as they said their vows on the Memorial Bridge in Portsmouth, a historic landmark in a city that means so much to them. The ceremony was private with just the officiant (who was Ashleigh’s uncle), the best man and the maid of honor—exactly how they wanted it, although they did allow their waiting family and friends to view the nuptials live with the Periscope app. Ashleigh, an events planner, planned their wedding in four days.

Then, the real adventure began. The wedding party paraded down the streets of the Port City to grab a drink at The Press Room and stopped off at The Music Hall (where the bride works) before settling in at The Library Restaurant, where they met the rest of their party for a dinner reception. Guests then boarded the Heritage for a cruise of Portsmouth Harbor and enjoyed macarons—instead of cake—from Le Maison Navarre, a French bakery downtown.

The couple filled their day with many of their favorite things: a custom-made, knee-length toile dress made by a Greek seamstress via Etsy. com; wedding favors of hand-picked, used books with laser-engraved wooden bookmarks; and a carefully selected location that they could visit time and again. “It was the best day of my life,” Ashleigh said. “There is not one thing I would have changed to make it a more perfect day.”
